Cancun: All-Inclusive vs. Traditional Resorts
In January I attended a conference at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. It was my first time traveling to Cancun and my second time staying at an all-inclusive resort. It seems crazy to admit now, but at the time I wasn’t looking forward to a mid-winter break in the Caribbean (yeah, I know). The negative news coverage about boot-legged liquor, sketchy cab drivers, and Americans getting drugged and assaulted at resorts had shown up on my news feed too many times over the past few years. Pittsburgh: A Weekend Full of Surprises
Last year we went on a college visit with our son to Carnegie Mellon University. We had a great but quick weekend in Pittsburgh, and all three of us were surprised by how much we enjoyed our stay in Pittsburgh. Ultimately he decided to attend Johns Hopkins in Baltimore but he was honestly torn when making the decision, and it had a lot to do with how much he enjoyed Pittsburgh. Two Wins and a Loss in Shreveport
For those of us who call the Dallas area home Shreveport is an unremarkable and forgettable pass-through town on the way to the Gulf Coast. The casino-hotels dotting the river are a bygone reminder of the days when us Texas folks would flock to Louisiana for a weekend of gambling.
